General Health Guidelines
 
When should I keep my child home?
 
Students should be kept home if they have the following;
    1. When they have a fever
    2. vomiting 
    3. diarrhea
    4. contagious virus requiring antibiotics (will need 2 doses before returning to school)
    5. unknown rashes
If your student develops a fever or vomiting / diarrhea during the school day, you will be notified and expected to pick up your child right away. Please ensure the school has an emergency contact on file for your student in case we are unable to reach you.
 
 
When to return to school when still sick(headache, runny nose without fever, stomach ache)?
 
  • Students may return to school after being fever free (without medication) for 24 hours
OR
  • Students may return to school after being symptom free for 24 hours
 
 
State Mandated Health Screenings
 
In accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations, schools are required to provide vision, hearing, body mass index (BMI) and postural screenings at certain grade levels.
 
The Smile Program visits our school twice a year and provides the following for our students: 
 
Dental:
  • cleanings
  • sealants
  • x-rays
  • fillings.
 
Vision screenings  are conducted in the fall for grades K-5 and grade 7
 
Hearing screenings are conducted in grades K-3 and grade 7.
 
BMI is conducted in grades 1, 4 and 7.
 
Scoliosis screenings are done in grades 5-8
