Math
 
 
Kindergarten - Eigth Grade:
We use i-Ready Classroom Mathematics curriculum school wide in grades K-8. This program has both a consumable workbook component that students use every day in class, as well as an online program.  
 
Students receive direct instruction on standards from their Teacher that align with the Massachusetts State Frameworks. Students are using the Try-Discuss-Connect routine to practice their mathematical reasoning and adapt, to put into practice, new math problem solving strategies. 
 
i-Ready also includes an adaptable online program that students work on over the course of the year to continue to develop their math skills at their own pace, separate from the classroom.

English Language Arts - ELA

 

 

Kindergarten - Fifth Grades (K-5):

The MyView, developed by Savvas, is a comprehensive K-5 program designed to foster reading and writing skills. It integrates authentic texts, evidence-based practices, and daily foundational skills instruction in areas like phonological awareness and phonics, which are critical for early reading success. The curriculum is used in the core and  provides a five-day routine for vocabulary and comprehension lessons, allowing students to deeply engage with literature and build lasting connections.

 
 
Sixth - Eigth Grades (6-8):

The My Perspectives,developed by Savvas, in the English Language Arts program in the core used  in grades 6-8. It is designed to integrate reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, with a focus on fostering critical thinking and collaboration among students. Students use consumables to engage in the rich, authentic texts.

 

Both My View and My Perspectives use the technology component, Savvas Realize, which allows students to access multimedia resources, use personalized learning tools, and watch interactive lessons.

At Learning First Charter Public School, our K-8 classrooms are equipped with rich and diverse classroom libraries designed to foster a love of reading and support literacy development at every grade level. Each library is thoughtfully curated with a wide range of fiction and nonfiction texts that reflect our students' interests, backgrounds, and reading levels. By providing easy access to engaging books within the classroom, we create an environment where students can develop strong reading habits, build comprehension skills, and explore new ideas.

Science

 

Kindergarten - Fifth Grade (K-5):

In grades Kindergarten through Fifth grade the students use a combination of Generation Genius and Mystery Science in the core classes. Both programs have online access for teachers to explore thematic units and provide a unique hands on and online interactive approach. Lessons encourage students to express and evaluate their preconceived ideas about how the world of science works. This curriculum brings school science standards to life through fun and educational videos paired with lesson plans, activities, quizzes, reading material and more.

 

 

Sixth - Eigth Grade (6-8):

In grades sixth through eighth students use the program Activate Learning by IQWST in the core classes. Students use consumable books to capture the core components. Lessons are organized into thematic units that support students as they build understanding of core ideas in science as well as understanding and use of scientific practices. Students also pursue their own original questions in units that integrate the fundamentals of Physical Sciences, Life Science, and Earth & Space Science.

Scoial Studies
 
Kindergarten - Eigth Grade (K-8):
In kindergarten through eighth grade in the core social studies classes, the students use Savvas, My World Interactive Social Studies. This program has both a book component and an online component.
 
The lessons are all interactive literacy based lessons. There are also projects to go along with each unit, as well as differentiated components to reach our ESL/MSA and Special Education students.

Art, Music, Drama, Health & Physical Ed
 
 
The Learning First Fine Arts curriculum offers an ambitious program of instruction in music, visual arts, drama, and dance. Visual and performing arts are taught by specialists, who devote equal attention to history, performance, appreciation, and practice.
 
To reinforce classroom learning, the fine arts specialists often connect their lessons to the programs of studies in the core classes. Whether integrated with other subjects in the curriculum or taught on their own, the arts provide innovative ways to enhance learning and creativity.  The teachers pull from a variety of resources to ensure that all students receive a well-round.
